This Is my pneumatic Golf ball cannon. I've pressurized it up to 125 psi and done some serious damage to a certain frying pan with golf balls, and I also have a paintball/AA battery barrel that acts more like a gun then a cannon

sweet! what diameter barrel fit the golf-ball well?

By phardy2005-12-03 14:58:09
The barrel is a 3 foot piece of SDR21 pipe which i had to special order from here http://tonymann22.tripod.com/id2.html, It's an absolutely perfect fit, takes about 4 seconds to roll down the pipe (very satisfying. The next closest fit is 2inch pipe but it will roll around the barrel badly.

Adding a golfball length between the valve and your barrel, and inserting an O-ring between them with a cupling, greatly up's performance of any pnuematic cannon. : )

The seller you listed doesn't look entirely reputable, so I'm going to try and find a local seller for this type of piping. I settled for a package of super-bouncy balls I picked up at a K Mart, as they fit perfectly within a 1 1/2" PVC pipe I already had.

Once it's completed, I'll gladly add my own project to this site, looks like you guys have lots of neat stuff.

if you can, i would really like the blueprints for this too!

By potter2006-03-23 14:34:10
i am also looking for the blueprints or atleast more info. email me at Bcampion@vt.edu please

By trebuchet032006-03-24 16:02:36
its probably not a good idea to post your email address like that... It makes you more susceptible to a crawler bot picking you up and adding it to a spam list o.0

something like user at blah dot com is a little more difficult to pick up on...

Do you think you can e-mail me the plans for this? me and my friends could have a good time out on the sod farm =)
my email is aC4explosion@gmail.com
thanks

This thing looks insane! Is there any chance you guys can put the plans on your site?

By flinchy2006-07-03 20:28:33
it really annoys me when people ask for blueprints, i mean the pictures alone are really straight forward. its just a pressure chamber, a pneumatically activated sprinkler valve, and a barrel. but anyways, nice job. man, id kill to get my hands on some SDR-21 piping.

By delmole852006-09-05 20:25:28
If you are still looking for SDR21 pipe I can get it. Also 2.5 inch and fittings for it if you want to shoot tennis balls.

By phardy2006-07-15 21:28:44
Like flinchy said the cannon's really straight forward. There's a schrader valve in the back to fill the chamber. the chamber is 3 inch pipe with an elbow in it to act as the butt of the gun. The valve's inlet and outlet is 3/4 inch (which requires reduders and threaded couplers)I modified it by attaching a airgun to the top of the diaphram valve (this increases the performance ALOT)then attached my 3 foot golf ball barrel and paint. soon ill be taking this beast apart for a dual valve golfball pnumatic.

I live behind a golf course and it has been my dream to make a golf ball cannon. However, a long time ago, when my friend and I decided to build one or a potato gun, we couldn't find the right size pipe, and figured we would have to custom order it, so we gave up and stuck with the potato gun. After seeing this, we went right out and got some pipe and the supplies as soon as we could find it. Our prototype worked amazingly well, launching the balls out of sight, I estimate over 200 yards easily. With a couple improvements ( like the air gun trigger) I think I will be able to land golf balls back on the golf course and taunt golfers. Also, we launched a headless golf club out of it, and it went a good 100 yards. The next step is to buy some glow in the dark spray paint, and shoot some off at night.

hi you guys good ammo to use r glow sticks hot glued to any thing cylindrical tha will fit the barrel my son loves it hes 7 cheers nick

By cwn862006-09-07 15:23:18
Here are a couple videos. The first is of a golf club and golf ball being shot out of it. Can't see much, but you can see the club in flight a little bit, went ~100 yards. The second is of a hunting arrow and a golf ball, the arrow misses and hits in the field, the ball hits the target. I shot the arrow at 45 degrees once and it went about 250 yards, and landed 8+ inches in the ground.

Anyone know where I can buy one of these that's already built and ready to go?

By markarizona2007-04-23 13:23:53
I have a friend, age 52, loves golf and can no longer swing a club due to spine problems... want to build him a golf ball cannon that he can mount on his golf cart, for driving, fareway and chip shots... Compressed air seems to be the answer using maybe scuba tanks as an air source... There has to be someone that has built a device... Maybe a sling shot device if it can easly be armed... Thanks First post... Mark

How do you connect the air blower to the sprinkler valve? What do you do with the opening after you get rid of the solenoid, and what type of fittings do you use to connect the air blower? by the way, kickingh design. love it.

If you had to special order the barrell, then how were you able to connect the sprinkler valve to the barrell? My e-mail is destefanon@mssm.org

By Nickadeamus2007-06-12 23:36:25
Can you e-mail me describing how you modified it by attaching a airgun to the top of the diaphram valve?

By Tweetybird2007-06-24 15:20:42
Nckadeamus, check out my site. I have a sprinkler valve air blower and safety fully assembled for sale. www.spudgunextreme.com. Also, I have the full pneumatic plans for the gun with pictures of each step in an easy downloadable pdf for $15.00, available through contactus@spudgunextreme.com. Most people do not like to divulge this info. I do, but for a small price. Trust me. Everyone who has bought it said it was well worth it.

Hey Phardy,

I work for a television production company called Creative Differences. We're making a show for the Discovery Channel and are really interested in featuring your cannon.

It would be great if you could drop me a line.

My email is ruth.m at lycos.co.uk.

Thanks a lot.

Ruth
